Expect to spend 1 to 2 hours discussing your project in your home.   During this time we will discuss scope of work, desired results, and general ideas.  This may be the jumping off point you need to continue on your own, decide on a paint color, or the beginning of the design process.

At this point we have decided to move forward with the design project!  A detailed scope of work will be determined, design fees will be set and the contract will be signed. Katie will ask the client to collect specific images detailing what they like about each image to help her develop the overall style.  This is a really important step to getting the design right.

Once the scope of work is determined and the contract is accepted, the design process can begin.  This may take  6 to 12 weeks for one room up to 6 months for the entire home with furnishings.  The more homework we do during programming the faster this phase will go.

For projects including contract services, budget estimates will be part of the design development, which is part of the overall time consideration.

When the final design is ready to present to the client, Katie will meet you in your space, so we can walk through all the details and see the materials in your home’s lighting.  If the overall scope of work includes contracting the project, a detailed spreadsheet with project estimates will be provided during this presentation meeting.

There are almost always a few tweaks to be made before final approval.   Honest feedback from the Client during the presentation is vital and items will be adjusted as needed to be sure everyone is in agreement moving forward.   Multiple rounds of revisions due to client indecision or change in direction may require more design fees.  This is why it is so important to do our homework upfront and avoid miscommunication in design direction.   Once we have final approval, the cost spreadsheet will be updated and we are ready to  move forward with construction.

Once we have reached the final approval, where everything is perfect, a start date will be determined with a detailed schedule provided of what will be happening week to week.   Product procurement, such as fixtures will begin in order for necessary items to be available during the beginning of construction.

TeelSpaces will either handle all of the procurement  as we move towards beginning construction or provide all of the finish details necessary for the Client's chosen contractor to complete the job.

Most projects will take 3 - 4 months to complete from demo to final punch list items.   Larger, whole home remodel projects may run up to 6 months.  The Client will be billed throughout the process as work is completed, and materials are ordered.    We provide regular updates as we go on weekly/daily activities, and of course any schedule or project cost changes.
