There are thousands of options and combinations out there that can make the process very overwhelming and difficult to get started.  Designers are like therapists for your home.  We listen, advise and ultimately guide you to the right answers using our experience and knowledge, saving you time, stress, costly mistakes, decision fatigue and buyers remorse.  If you have ever delayed starting a project because you don’t know where to start,  can’t make a decision on the direction you want to go, have limited time to consider all the details, cant agree on a style with your partner, or feel overwhelmed with details, you should definitely hire a designer for your project.

As soon as you decide you want to remodel or change a space, you should start looking for a designer.  For a designer to really do their job well, you should give them a few months to work on the project before consulting a contractor.

There is no cost for a discovery call where we discuss your project needs and budget to determine and decide if we need to move forward with a consultation.

Consultations take 1 to 2 hours and cost $250.  During this time we further discuss project goals, and general design ideas.  Consultations can be used to give a client a jumping off point for their DIY project or help gain understanding of the full scope of the project in order to determine a project fee.

Design Fees are determined by the scope of work we discuss during the consultation.  Scope of work often changes during a project as items are added beyond what was originally discussed, but the goal is to let you know upfront what your total out of pocket expenses will be for the design. For TeelSpaces, this ranges from $2,500 to $6,250 per room for design services. Total design fees are determined by estimated hours to complete the project and are required to be paid upfront for work to begin. For larger projects a design fee retainer is required to begin based on a portion of the estimated total design hours required.  Time spent on the project will be tracked and billed on a monthly basis moving beyond the retainer fee.

Yes! We offer all levels of interior design service for new construction and addition projects. Including floor plan reviews, custom cabinet design, furniture and fixture selection as well as furniture layout, selections and procurement.

We do not currently offer contract services for new construction or addition projects, but highly recommend developing a team to work on your project early on in the process.

Design timelines depend on several things.  Current work load, total scope of work for your project and the type of work to be completed are factors in determining the total design time needed.    This can range from 1 to 3 months or more for larger, whole home project design.  This is why it is important to start the design process well before you plan to start a renovation or host a holiday gathering.

Construction or furniture lead times can add an additional 3 to 6 months after the design is approved, bringing the total design to completion time from 9 to 12 months.   Time frame is often discussed in the initial call to help us both determine if working together is the right fit.

One of my strengths as a designer is listening.    It is important that we take the time to really hone in on what you are looking for from the beginning to help me develop a design you will love.  The best way to do this is save images you like and note what it is you like about them before design begins.  We will discuss in depth what is bothering you about the room, how you live in and use the space, and the look you want to achieve. This is a really important step to getting the design right.

This is not a one and done process.  My estimated time for the project accounts for a few tweaks to be made to the design to get it just right.

No, TeelSpaces is a design-build firm, which means we only build the projects we design.

However, Katie is more than happy to work with other contractors and often does.   Clients who already have a contractor they like to use are more than welcome to use TeelSpaces for design services.
